O2 SIM only deals and customer service.

My contract with O2 runs out tomorrow, so I know I'm leaving it very late to get advice.
I've been with O2 for ever and the one thing I loved was their customer service, but in the last year it's massively dipped . You wait forever to get through to someone, you're put on hold for ages, promises to get back to you never materialise. It's just not the same as it used to be..

I'm a creature of habit so I'm apprehensive to change provider, but I'm really struggling to find consistent pricing online for sim only deals......I need around 5GB a month and unlimited texts and minutes.

The last time I spoke to O2 I was told to ring on Fri the day after my contract expires to discuss a new contract.
Any advice from O2 customers especially on SIM only deals and your experience of customer services, would be great to hear.
Thank you.

There are some cracking deals available with o2 and listed on money saving expert website

www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheap-mobile-finder/sim-only/o2/

We took out a sim for our son after his existing pay monthly contract finished. If you ring o2 customer service from your phone and quote which deal you're interested in then they will match it for you. Really simple process.

I'm with O2 on a SIM only deal (partly as I get a family and friends discount). I think the customer service has improved (albeit from a low level).

Without being disloyal, my favourite for customer service is Tesco Mobile (my kids have SIM only contacts with them). Runs on the O2 network but has a very helpful U.K. based call centre.

Do you have an 02 shop anywhere near you? I was having major problems with my phone - tried online and couldn't speak to anyone other than a bot. In desperation I went to their shop in my city and was dealt with very efficiently. Really friendly bunch of staff - not patronising and walked out with everything sorted. I had been going round in circles online for days!

Yep, I've used an O2 shop and they were very helpful and knowledgeable. However it's a bit of a drive though and parking is not ideal or cheap.

I've got an ongoing issue with O2 where I was overcharged by around £10 on my last bill, they said I hadn't gone over my limits. Spent well over an hour on the phone to customer services, got absolutely nowhere......so I need to get that resolved too before I even look at my new contract.

I was with o2 on a sim only for years and was v happy. But I was a bit hard up and started looking around and found a much much cheaper option with more data with another provider. I asked O2 if they could match it or at least reduce my price and they said no. So off I went. Seems daft, I'd been a good customer for years. It was really easy to change over to the new provider. I'd look into changing if I were you OP.

Thanks for your post @usernother , I agree....... can't understand why there wasn't some leeway for you on price especially as you were a longstanding customer.
I'm going to keep my options open.

I went with Tesco OP. No issues at all with them.
