Anyone had one made? Roughly how much did it cost?

it very much depends what you want - gold/platinum etc

will you be using other stones as well in the setting?

if you are in/near London i would go to Hatton Garden and get some designs\prices

a good independent jeweler.

My enguagement ring was made for me (the diamond was passed down the family).

It cost us about £200-£300 to get a very simle fitting made up, and that was 20 years ago

£200-£300? That's quite a lot.

He still got me on the cheap!

Would think it could be that. It cost £270 to get one of the diamonds reset in my engagement ring and that was 5 years ago. (Insurance covered it though)

I bought my mum a Ruby for her 50th birthday last year and she had it put into a ring.

She found a local jeweller who did it and she saved a bit of money as he let her take in some old jewellery and melted it down to use in the ring.
So she had it done for £200 in total and that included having 2 little diamonds set into it.

Have you though about how you want it setting?

LyraSilvertongue · 23/02/2008 09:22

Not really, something fairly modern.
I'm hoping actually that DP might suggest we get it made into an engagement ring...
