when do you put your childs name on a schools waiting list

ds is only 18 months, should i put his name down now or am i being over anxious?

You're being over anxious. You don't need to contact the school until the September before your ds is 4. Makes no odds. Don't worry, I thought the same with DS1.

never knew that mars - thanks for posting that - dd turns 3 on xmas day and everyone is giving me grief about getting her name on a school list! - now i have a comeback!

Have a quick word with the schools. My ds (3yrs) has his name down with two schools now, but they did confirm that it makes absolutely no difference to whether he'll get in or not. Presume you're not talking about private.
