What do you plan to do when you retire?

My PILs have jsut retired (well, he has, she retired on her wedding day), and they have no idea what they're going to fill their time with. I can tell they're rather worried by this and it has got me and DH thinking aout what we will do when we're pensioners. At the moment we don't have any enduring hobbies (except two toddlers) so we both want to find something that we can get into over the years and enjoy together.

Have you ever thought about it? What do think you'll do?

i quite like my dad's retirement which involves constantly watching videos and moaning about the neighbours.

My friends parents retired recently and went backpacking. That'd be great I think.

Dh & I have decided that we are going to buy 2 lovely warm rugs, maybe sheepskin, and sit & watch Murder She Wrote, Diagnosis Murder, Midsomer Murders & Poirot!

We will have a tea trolley & 2 flasks of hot water with some tea bags & a box of cream buns.

We will lock the door & keep out the kids & grandkids.

We can't wait

Sell everything I own and go and see if I can afford to live somewhere warm and sunny. In fact plan to do that in about 5 years time when DD come of age.

I'll sit in my swing chair with a long cool drink looking out from my verandah to where my very attractive gardener - bronzed, stripped to the waist, cheekily attractive - is digging over my vegetable patch. He'll manfully pull out a few carrots and stride towards me asking 'What do you want me to ask the cook to rustle up for dinner?' I'll hum and ha a bit and settle on something suitably tricky and delicious.
Then it'll be time for a swim in my private pool while the houseboy - bronzed, fully dressed with brooding good looks - tops up my drink.
Later when I'm reclining on my lounger as the sun goes down dh will shuffle over in his favourite holey jumper and ask what's on the telly later.
We'll cuddle up on the sofa with chocolates and go to bed quite late as we won't be woken at 6am.

I'd like to live half here in my current home and half overseas (yet to be determined but warm).
I would like to have the time to do all the courses and develop all the interests that I'd like to do now.
I'd like to travel to all the places I can't afford or don't have the time to go to right now.
I'd like to have lots more mates who I can laugh with and drink too much with.
Of course I'd like to have an active part in my two DS's lives, but I fear that this is unlikely, hence Christmas in Tuscany every year so I don't feel lonely.
DP coming too...he knows my plan!

Hope I'm still fit enough by then.
