Have got a day of shopping today but am using DP's card as he gets paid weekly, whereas i am monthly.

Today i need to do asda shopping and finish off the Xmas shopping - plan on spending about £50 in asda and then about £350 on Xmas shopping.

I have got the £250 daily limit out on the card but would i be able to use his card in the chip and pin machine's?
Does it come up with his name on their screen?

Would it be illegal for me to do this even though DP knows?

TIA x

probably would be embarassing if a consientious person at the till refused to accept it as not your card. but i dont think it is illegal. i use my dh card on the internet and the phone all the time. i have never been told i cant use it. all they have cared about is that the cardholders address and the delivery address be the same.

i know of someone who used her moms card for five years, and signed her name!
good luck. hope you dont get embarrased

why should they take the card away?

Will depend on how careful the shop is. I've had problems in Next (and that was with a joint account card) but was getting a refund so maybe the rules are different?

#I have asked the question before in Currys and the lady on the till told me that the cardsholders name doesn't come up on their screen but what worries me is that fact that all systems aren't the same!

God, I really cant cope with havcing to go into town on a saturday, 2 weeks before Xmas :(

They wouldn't normally take the card unless they suspected it was stolen. But you are attempting to use a card that isn't yours and they have no way of knowing if you are using it with permission or if you've nicked it from dh's wallet Grin Safer to just draw the cash.......wouldn't want to have no card at all two weeks before Christmas.
