Parents been married 40 plus years They are both in their late 60s. Dad has semi retired and mum still works.
My mum is not happy in the relationship, says she loves him but he constantly upsets her.
neither have many friends
she won’t leave him, Ive suggested counselling, clubs , made suggestions that they talk, meet new people and nothing changes.
but I can’t listen to my mum moan about my dad anymore, it’s making me not want to talk to her, she does this at least twice a week ( we speak everyday)
whats brought it to ahead is that she retires soon and they will be spending more time together.
if I say anything she is going to be very hurt and feel like she has no one to talk to, but I feel my heart sink every time I see her name on my phone.
i always try and be supportive and listen but I’ve lost all sympathy because I’ve heard it for so long.
like I said I’ve made loads of suggestion, she won’t leave ( financially she could)
Aibu to say something even if I know it’s not going to go down well and she will be VERY hurt? I know I’m going to be told that she has no one else.
my dad does nothing wrong in terms of anything bad, he just seems to annoy her and say the wrong thing.
