How do doctors tell you that you have to move surgeries?

How much notice do they have to give?

Our doctor's surgery which has about 6 Drs there may be about to tell us we are outside their catchment area.

We have been there for years but things are being changed around.

We are on the border

How much notice do they have to give?

I presume it has to be done by them sending out a letter.

We really like our doctor. We do NOT want to move.

Can you appeal against it?

TIA

There have been a lot of instances locally of doctors removing patients from their lists becasue they are oversubscribed. I think it is entirely up to them I'm afraid. Some of the people removed have been OAPs who have been on the list for years.

However the health authority is obliged to allocate a doctor to you and if your current doctor is not oversubscribed it could ve they stipulate they keep you.

It may be worth contacting your local PALS (patient advisory and liason service)
