Decided today that I am going on friends hen weekend in 6 weeks time.

Problem is, I don't have a passport, and apprently I might have to have an interview as it is my first ever one.

Has anyone had to have an interview ??

What are the chances of me getting passport in 6 weeks ??

my friend had one recently but she was recently awarded citizenship . Are you a British citizen?

MamaG · 13/02/2008 14:20

I've never heard of interview - if you go to post office and do check & send i think its quicker

cupsoftea · 13/02/2008 14:22

if it's your first passport you need to have an interview now

nutcracker · 13/02/2008 14:23

Yep am British Citizen.

On the website it says you might have to have interview, not definatly.

check out www.ips.gov.uk/passport/interviews.asp

is that new rules nutty?

I think check and send takes about 2 weeks, but this time of year shouldn't be a problem anyway

finding someone to sign the photos is the biggest hassle

kayzisbroody · 13/02/2008 14:24

Just looked on the website, it says it takes around 6 weeks and you MAY have to have an interview but you may not

Iota · 13/02/2008 14:24

blimy nut - get a move on - that link says allow six weeks for the first one

cupsoftea · 13/02/2008 14:25

think if it's your actual 1st passport - if you had your own passport as a child you wont need an interview?

nutcracker · 13/02/2008 14:27

Nope never had one at all before, not even as a child.

Shit, she has booked the flight now too.

Have already filled in part of the form online, they are now sending it me to complete and then i will take to PO and use check and send.

shit shit shit

Unless they've changed things recently, if you complete the form online you can't use postoffice check and send (but you do get the form bnack to sign quite quicky from the passport office).

Daisymoo · 13/02/2008 14:40

I did a child's first one recently and it only took about 10 days to come back...fingers crossed for you.

Iota · 13/02/2008 14:45

I might have imagined this, but doesn't it ask on teh form when your proposed date of travel is?

I'm sure you will be fine Nutty, if you DO IT NOW

cupsoftea · 13/02/2008 14:46

this goes through the application process & interview www.ips.gov.uk/passport/interviews-process.asp

But i can't do that until next week cos i'd have to take all the kids with me. You have to wait bloody ages too.

I only got a replacement about 2 years ago, and used it about a year ago for provisional licence. Can find all of that but no BC.
