They have been overpaying us for months. I have been telling them repeatedly. I've phoned, I've phoned, I've written. And today. They put NINE GRAND!!! into our bank account. FFS. They want dh's P60 details (AGAIN- I have told them and written to them twice).

say nothing. run!

mrsmalaprop · 12/02/2008 09:35

I think we should blow up their offices so they have to start from scratch (while there's no one there, obviously). I know I am going to owe them money next year. Our circumstances have changed, but the payments haven't. I keep telling them, but they keep saying that it will be sorted out in April (i.e. they will start clawing back the money then.)

Still - £9,000!!!!!

I've never heard anything like it!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 12/02/2008 09:36

A friend of mine got her first payment, which was backdated two months 9 TIMES!
How do they make such errors?

yurt1 · 12/02/2008 09:41

No fio, unfortunately. They missed a 0 of dh's salary - I have told them repeatedly, they then changed it so this year's salary was correct, but kept the 0 missed off last years salary. So the payments reduced. So no only have we had 9 grand in one go, we've also had months of overpayments of a few hundred.

It's going to be fun when they claw it back isn't it. I've put it all in my high interest account (and paid off a flexi loan temporarily). It's never looked so healthy

a 0 off dh's salary I mean.

you were investigated? OMG!!

I'm glad I wrote to them as at least I have a copy. Someone told me she could see it recorded on the computer that I had written but she couldn't see what the letter said (it was totally ignored anyway).

We probably owe them about 12 grand in total. Honestly though getting them to stop paying has been impossible.

£9000!!! They are unbelievably useless! We have gone from getting £150 per month (really handy) tp £15 per month because of their mistakes! Pisses me off.

OracleInaCoracle · 12/02/2008 10:12

omg! 9k? they really are rubbish arent they.

belcantavinissima · 12/02/2008 10:19

echo what you said about them being useless- i have disability element for 2 kids out of three and so payments went up to £460 per month- lovely!- now just before xmas they decided we had been getting too much due to dh salary (which we told them about) so it has gone down to £54 per month. they are gits

yurt1 · 12/02/2008 10:26

Our disability element seemed to make no difference to the payments. I don't understand it.

did dhs pay go up at around the same time? maybe they cancelled each other out iyswim???

yurt1 · 12/02/2008 10:32

dh's pay never went up. It's been the same (rising with inflation) for years. They just randomly dropped a zero off the end.

They are rubbish.

I filled in a form to claim on my own (h and I are splitting up). I know (and checked several times) that I had completed the form in full.

After two weeks of not hearing anything, I rang them. Oh yes, they'd received my form 10 days before but it hadn't been processed fully because I'd missed out my earnings and my child benefit number. I know for a fact I blardy didn't!!! Oh, the computer may not have picked it up, yeah right.

Fortunately h is paying mortgage till I get my credits sorted, but what if he wasn't?

yurt1 · 12/02/2008 13:51

I wish we just paid less tax in the first place.

oh well I don't mind that as such. But why not just tax tax payers less, and give people on benefits better benefits. Rather than create a whole extra complicated layer to just go wrong......

I really don't understand how they can not know what is on dh's p60. That REALLY confuses me. Surely it's the same department!

OP posts:
evenhope · 12/02/2008 22:43

Same department. Completely different computer systems.

yurt1 · 12/02/2008 22:44

oh well obviously Is there some sort of data protection reason for that or is it pure incompetence?

OP posts:
evenhope · 14/02/2008 20:05

Bit of both
