Hi,

I have developed a fungal infection rash as a result of wearing maternity pads for a couple of weeks after childbirth. I saw a doctor on Friday who prescribed me Trimovate and asked me to apply it 3x daily, which I have been doing. However, the rash is still wet and was itchy/stinging last night. Does anyone know how long this cream tends to take to start working please? Also does anyone have any other suggestions that may help it to heal quicker? I’m at the end of my tether as I’ve had a couple of other issues since I had my baby and it just feels like one thing after another.

Hi I seen your post and know it was a few months ago just seeing how you are now. I’ve had constant problems after having my baby. I developed a rash on my bum too. 100% was the constant pad wearing Also when you have a baby you forget to change as often. I went to the doctor who gave me steroid cream to apply 3x daily nothing worked then I developed multiple fissures and the pain was unbearable. After 6 months of being told to use steroid cream I bought fungal cream which is helping but I’ve used it for 3 weeks the pain has subsided a great deal but still not completely away. Also my nails have split from the cuticle. Severe back hip pain and oily urine :( this has all be since I had my baby too. All the doctors seem to say is your bloods are fine. I’m at my wits end too. I’m hoping you’ve fully healed now x

Hi,
thank you for your comment. It’s a lot better than it was but to be honest I’m still itchy and sore some days! But no where near as bad as I was at first! Hoping in time it just eventually goes away, I’m only 3 months postpartum!
sorry to hear you’ve had a rough post partum too! The cream I was given was an antibiotic, fungal and steroid cream all in one (Trimovate). I will have to try some anti fungal cream on its own and see if that helps! :)

Hi I read your post and really sympathise.Did your medical practitioner swab your rash to rule out bacterial infection ? If it is bacterial only oral antibiotics will alleviate it 😊hope your better soon

Hello, no swabs taken. I even said could this be perianal strep as all the skin is cracking at anal opening sorry tmi. The doctor just looked at me like I was crazy! Said it’s anxiety after having a baby and trying to diagnose myself. Of course I’m trying to figure out why I’m in so much pain with cracks and a horrible rash. I even said I’ve had strep throat about 10x throughout my life to be told that’s not how it works. The fungal cream is helping the rash but still getting multiple cuts. Im now really worried it’s something far more serious and I’ve been ignored for months on end. Thank you both so much for replying it’s good to actually have insight from other mums and somewhere to chat :) x
