firstly i would like to say sorry to keep posting about my wedding but all you mumsnetters have given me fantastic advice and im back for more!! sorry

i have decided that getting married end of sept that my theme is gonna be Autumn!!

i was thinking of having one big candle (not over fat but tallish!!) set on top of fake golden, red, yellow and bronze leaves and also have smaller fake leaves scatterd around the tables (which are round) with autumn coloured glass beads scatterd in between!!

what do all you mums netters think??

Sounds great, easy to match things up with such a broad theme, colour wise.

nickytwotimes · 10/02/2008 19:46

Great idea for a theme. You know you can get coloured rose petals? Don't know if they are "dye-able" but might be an option if they were. Also biodegradable!

igglepiggles · 10/02/2008 19:50

yeah i know its great!! well my DP is in gold waist coat with burgandy scrolls (it sounds horrid but it really is nice i promise!!) brides maids in burgandy with a tad gold embroidery on the top, all the ushers best men and of corse lil DS will be matching the groom!!

i originally said pink baby pink etc but i think the reds and golds can look quite classy!! we re doing it on a budget, and the candles etc i can get from ikea!!!!

Red and gold is easily obtainable and perfect for autumn. Have you done an Ebay search under 'gold wedding' or 'claret wedding' etc? you'll be amazed at what comes up, sorry if I am teaching you to suck eggs BTW. My whole wedding almost was purchased on Ebay and was fab if I say so myself.

igglepiggles · 10/02/2008 21:58

I had an autumn themed wedding - think Harvest Festival. we got married in church and out hymn was 'we plough the fields and scatter'.

Our cake had ivy, conkers, acorns etc. on it. Is there anyway you could get some of these and decorate them (spray etc.).

igglepiggles · 10/02/2008 22:25

jossStick that is a very good idea!! i hadnt actually thought of things like conkers etc silly me!! but is a really fab way of doing things and making all the easier to save money!!
thankyou!!

dropdeadfred if i remember rightly converted in to £s it was £150 approx and i think it was really cheap to post and pack etc!! its cheaper doing that and if it did need alterations it would only be minor things so the dress wouldnt get spoilt which as i said is so much cheaper than over here when buying/having it made from start to finish!!

It had blackberries etc. on it too - late summer fruits .

Alambil · 10/02/2008 22:34

OOOO that dress is gorgeous; would look ace in the white/apple if your bridesmaids are red! (plain white is gorgeous too!)

igglepiggles · 10/02/2008 22:41

i was thinking of white/apple cos originally it was gna be white with ice pink!!! bridesmades was gna be in ice pink and groom best man etc pink waist coats silver scrolls or siver waist coats pink scrolls!!

if you go to brides maides dresses i was thinking of the one at the very bottom of page one its shown in yellow but id have it in burgandy or apple!! have look i think its lovely cos its plain but classy !!

Both dresses are gorgeous. That style of bridesmaid dress was just what I wanted for my friends wedding in June where I am chief bridesmaid....not quite what we ended up with though

White dress - blackberries - you were brave JossStick!

cuzisayso · 11/02/2008 08:10

sounds lovely, and takes me back...

We had autumn leaf kinda theme...I got a batch of small silk maple leaves for the inviations/favours/placecards (very cheaply online somewhere) and a leaf-shaped punch to make simple, small thank you cards. Co-ordinated with copper/white ribbon, text, etc.

Centrepieces were bronze/copper candleholders whichI had the florist decorate for about £2-3 each...big autumleaves around dried berries, grasses and stuff. All lovely colours and very warm. Bridesmaids were warm gold but should really have been copper - would have been more unusual and very beautiful. My dress was very simple but I asked florist for autumn colours in my bouquet and got lovely tea roses and others...

Aw, hope you have as much fun as I did arranging and enjoying your day!!

igglepiggles · 11/02/2008 11:17

omg im not having fun arranging it all!!! im getting stressed out!! my DP hasnt given me a lot of opinions on anything it been more like "watever you think is best my darling" and "yeah that sounds good" i dont think he s too botherd his family aint invited and he s not really letting on how much its hurting him. they are not getting invited watever happens!!. they evicted us from our first home (cos we wouldnt move in with them and took offence) and they tried to split us up, phoning me saying my DP was up there and not in work and that he was arranging for them to collect his stuff, this went on for ages untill one day they done it and he hadnt gone in to work as he was ill, they didnt realise that he was sitting next to me whilst they were telling me he was leaving me!!!
so as you can see they will not be at my day, bit of a hipacrit wishing us all the best on day after all this!!

wich brings me to my top table plan do you think this sound ok??

cheif bridesmaid, my brother, bestman, my dad, me, groom, my mum, my nan, matthew, bridesmaid. both my brothers are also ushers!!!!

i think the colour copper for brides maids dresses would be stunning!!

OP posts:
igglepiggles · 11/02/2008 11:18

sorry matthew is my brother!!! elwyn my ds will be at my auntie and uncles table!!
