Scary orange juice!

When we were in Wales at the IL's last week, ds2 spilled orange juice all over his trousers. I just let them dry out instead of washing them (they don't have a tumble dryer or central heating so I always take enough clothes to last us as it's such a palaver washing and drying there). Washed them when we got home and have just put them on him. They are light blue, quite fine babycord. Anyway, where the juice was spilled, it has kind of burned the pile off the fabric and they are bald Shock

I know orange juice is acidic but blimey - wonder what it does to your insides?!

Btw, it was pure orange juice not radioactive Sunny D - I would expect holes with Sunny D Grin

God,that's really freaky!
Was it posh OJ or the concentra reconstituted stuff?

Only thing is mm - did you let them dry out in the sun at all? Because citrus fruit/juice/oil is phototoxic - reacts badly with sunlight. You're not supposed to go out in bright sunlight with citrus massage oil on your skin because it could provoke a reaction or burn you. It might not be the particular OJ, it might be a reaction of the OJ oil and the fine fabric.

(and obv then it wouldn't do anything nasty to your insides unless you were careless enough to leave your insides out in bright sunlight!! Grin)

Can believe that wobblyknicks.
You should see what a squirt of lemon juice does to my very dark slate worktops-turns them white
(note to all-NEVER have slate worktops in your kitchen!)

I'll remember that moondog!! On the up side - makes a brilliant bleach but not when you don't want it to!!!

I splashed Paella on a top on holiday, as I was handwashing everything I decided this one didn't really need doing and shoved it in the suitcase, when I washed it at home there were lots of little holes where the Paella had burnt through the fabric. I've had this with clothes before and always thought it was a flaw in the fabric now I realise I've not been washing them soon enough! Blush

I was being hopeful that Wales might have had one rare day in the year!! Grin Anyway, that was all I could think of, but maybe it is just radioactive OJ!!!
