Party bags at school?

If your child is having a birthday and taking a cake in to school to a party at the end of the school day as agreed with the teacher, would you take party bags or a lucky dip or something similar for the kids in his class? I posted in Primary and got some good responses but just wanted some more views on the subject. Thanks.

At our primary, you don't take cake but take a little snack-sized chocolate bar/lolly for each child. I wouldn't take party bags, and I don't think you'd be very popular with parents for starting that one off. Some people won't be able to afford it and/or won't have time to sort it. Is your child new to the school? If not, what have other birthday children done? Doing something radically different might backfire on you and your child in the popularity stakes.

I wouldn't - a multipack of sweets to hand out, but nothing more
