DRUGS SEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My DP was just on his way down the shop for bread and milk etc when a car pulled up, blocked the road, and 2 undercover police men got out!!
They pinned him against the wall, tipped his wallet out and DRUG searched him!!
My dp has never been involved wth drugs, he hasn't got a criminal record, and doesnt even go down the pub for a drink.
the police said he looked suspicious because he was just standing on the pavement looking around. all he was trying to do was CROSS A BUSY ROAD
they made a rite scene, took his name and address etc, everyone was looking cause they had blocked the road.
THEY DIDNT EVEN APOLOGISE

I'm really sorry but I think you are over-reacting slightly.. By all means call the police up and let them know that you felt they conducted themselves in a very poor way but I think worrying about whether he looks like a drug dealer to other drug dealers is a little unnecessary.

It's not like he actualyl got arrested for no reason or you feel he is being discriminated against.

well if it is over re acting im sorry but it was very stressing, and upsetting especially that they've said theres a lot of drugs in the area.

If there's a lot of drugs in the area, isn't it a good thing that they are stopping and searching people? to try and clamp down on it.

Nobody wants drugs in their area. And the police have to do all they can to eradicate this problem. However, imo, this is not a licence for them to stop and search anyone they like. They have to have reasonable suspicion and have to act according to their powers.

Karen999 i totally agree, with them having to do wat they ahve to but with a reasonable cause unlike the one they gave of him looking susoicious trying to cross the road!!!

There is a massive drug problem in Swansea it drug use is on the increase. Heroin is a particular problem and I would not be surprised if there was a push by the police at the moment to be more high profile re drugs. There have been several deaths of young people lately due to drugs.

This happened to me more than once in my 20s (in London though) and to all my friends.

There is always some fabricated reason to search you (or stop your car) that is always patently not true, but they need to say it in order to search you. This ensures that if you complain they have a 'reason' they can state to justify their actions. So I don't think complaining would get you very far.

C'est la vie I think, but sorry if it has left you and your DP upset.
