Mogs gone.......

They've killed off Mog!!! Don't know if anyone else loves the Mog books like myself and my dds, but she's gone. Saw "Goodbye Mog" in Waterstones today and it stopped dd and I in our tracks! Even the cashier said it was awful!. It's a lovely story about how to say Goodbye/rembember the good things etc, and a "misty" Mog helps the new kitten to settle in, and when that's done she diseppears into the sun. But still, she's gone.........sob!

I heard an interview on Radio 4 with the author, explaining why she was killing off Mog...that's how life goes etc etc..but you're right it's very sad. dd loves Mog & Bunny (Mog looks like our tom cat)

Have to add I did buy it,as it will be the last. And one day our sweet puss(who's getting on) will go to the warm basket in the sky so it should help the dds then.

I thought you were talking about our mumsnet contributer Mog & got quite worried - Mog, are you out there?

helenmc · 13/11/2002 21:54

Wish the book was out last year, I made a total hash of explaining to dds that our cat was now a star (as in Lion King). Had me in tears and then they said...can we go to Sainsbury's and get a new kitten..AAARRRGGH

RIP Mog. We'll miss her (him?)

It's not true, it isn't, it isn't, IT ISN'T.

I saw this book in a book club leaflet (can't remember if I've ordered it, actually!) and was so upset. We've even got a moth-eaten Mog soft toy somewhere.

Sadness all round - but its a lovely story. Mog and Bunny, I remember that. And the burglar stealing the spoons. And the medal ...

emsiewill · 04/12/2002 22:03

There's an article in today's Guardian all about the death of Mog.

(Sorry, link won't work for some reason)
