Lonely

Just a moan really. Moved location with DP, somewhere they've always wanted to live. They are really happy. I'm happy but lonely, neither of us knows ANYONE here. I've tried to join clubs, not many in area, so that's a no no. I'm really sociable, DP isn't bothered about socialising or not, quite happy, in the house, occasionally popping for meal out etc. But I need people. I know I'm doing DP's head in, as they are literally the only person I have a conversation with.

I don't regret the move, but I need more.... looked at getting a job, but very few opportunities in the area, very rural, no where to volunteer etc.

Not looking for a magic wand, just wanted a chat 🙂

I know how you feel, Covid dealt a death blow to most of my friendships and I realized recently that most of them are absolutely over. It's really tough starting again, so following for some tips too.

Have you moved country? Do you have children? Is it the sort of place you can pop to the local town and chat to coffee shop owners

I used to be perplexed at the people who stayed in the area they grew up in and now I know the answer.

Hobbies, reading travel. Tried a few book clubs, I've arranged to go away with friends from where I previously lived.

No same country, children all grown up and living away from home

How long has it been OP? We’ve moved a lot and I’d give it 18m- 2 years to settle in.

Have you considered a campaign group, either political or issue-based? They can be great fun, always loads to do, meet people with similar mindset, usually lots of fundraising social activities.

There must be a care home desperate for staff?

what do you like to read? I'm rereading the strike books again. I've download some volunteer application forms too to try to get out more.
