Hi there

my son has ulcerated colitis age 12 at the time

are you on Facebook? There is a very supportive group for parents with kids with IBD xx

Jaffacakeinmypocket · 14/01/2023 21:35

My son (age 10) was diagnosed with Crohn's disease last August.
I joined the Facebook group mentioned by Remmy123, the group has been so helpful and supportive.
Hope your GD is doing ok? Has she started any treatment?

There are lots of scary stories out there about crohns. DH was diagnosed 10 yrs ago (late 20s), was given steroids for a few months, put on an immunosuppressant which caused joint pain so was changed to another. Now he has been symptom free with no signs of any active crohns and is medication free and classed as remission. It will probably return in the future so he still see specialist nurse every 6 months to discuss any symptoms and for a blood test.

DGD was put on a steroid that is supposed to be absorbed in the relevant place in the gut. Unfortunately it did no good. She is now on a different steroid and is having blood tests in prep for having infusions of an immunosuppressant.

I feel reassured by your posts so thank you for this and the link to facebook.

I am glad that treatment has gone well for your children and thank you for your help.

Hi - it’s possible my 20 yr old son has Crohns or similar condition - can you share this FB support group please

Timeforchangeithink · 26/05/2023 11:52

@Ikeasucks just go into FB and search Crohn's and you'll see loads of pages. Please remember though, people generally post when things are bad, not when they're going well, so try not to panic!
