I have some vey large images saved into a programme for editing photographs. I need to attach them to a letter , but they are enourmous and take up to much memory. Does anyone know how I can compress them so they can be viewed as thumbnails but clickable to make larger ??Do I need a special programme ???

melsy · 01/12/2004 11:36

2592 x 1944 Pixels (5.04 MPixels)
14.42 MB (15,116,584 Bytes)

ive gone into resize and it shows were you can resize it .

I was hoping to email a marketng letter with images on it on the 2ned page that could be clicked to make bigger, will resizingnthem to say 680 pixels allow this or will it be permanent resize??
soz , bit of a novice. I also need to send the same images to a web site for advertising.

are you on a mac or pc melsy?

popsycal · 01/12/2004 11:39

sorry melsy - it will permanently resize - bt just save them as something else.
eg if origiannly called baby.jpeg call them baby2.jpeg after you have resized...

melsy · 01/12/2004 11:40

pc

so if resize and resave , it wont touch the previous image ??

OP posts:
melsy · 01/12/2004 11:42

sorry nother q , do i do save as on infraview to double save orginal format from other file and then save again so it saves as resized format. Does that make sense??!!

OP posts:
popsycal · 01/12/2004 11:43

i just do file, save as then change file name to the new name
the original file will stay as the original name and in the original form....

melsy · 01/12/2004 11:44

ooh there is a trick to this too....hold on

popsycal · 01/12/2004 11:50

a 10 year old showed me it
will see if i can rememeber

spacedonkey · 01/12/2004 11:51

If you put all the elements of your document into text boxes (using the Drawing toolbar in Word) you can control the layout better.

popsycal · 01/12/2004 11:51

insert your pic....
then do
format, picture, in front of text

then it will allow you to move your pic freely.....

melsy · 01/12/2004 12:13

ahhhhhhh I see sort of , theres also a way of compressing it in there, will have to play around with another saved version of the same image, encase I muck it up !!!

OP posts:
melsy · 01/12/2004 12:33

I get ya now spacemonkey , hadnt thought of using text boxes. Now I know why I use excel so much I HATE WORD!!! But word looks better if sending via email.
