Hello, never posted on here before but wanting a bit of advice.
Basically, I had a baby 6 months ago then had an implant inserted about 7 weeks post baby (my forth implant and never any issues prior).
All has been fine then at the end of September I started my period which hasn’t stopped (had a day here and there with minimal blood loss but never stopped completely). I started getting severe stomach cramps about half way through and hot flushes etc like a period. Went to the GP about two weeks ago and he had a look, said my cervix was healthy and as myself and my partner both had STI tests when I had the implant (apparently it’s their protocol) they were all clear so he’s not worried about anything like that and has put it down to hormones balancing post baby and implant so has prescribed me the Rid-something mini pill for 3 month continuous dose to try to balance my hormones and settle this never ending period.
I’m now a week and a half into taking it and I feel horrendously nauseous, exhausted, overly emotional and severe headaches, cramping and diarrhoea. I had an awful pregnancy filled with all of the above and more along with post natal depression as a result of my grandmother who practically raised me passing away the week baby was born resulting in her not meeting him.
I am unsure if I can physically take all of the above for another three months after enduring it throughout the pregnancy. Are these symptoms normal when on the pill? I haven’t been on the pill since I was 21 and don’t remember having all these side effects.
I guess my question is should I just buck up and keep on hoping my uterus will stop shedding and calm down along with the side effects or should I phone the GP back and seek further medical advice?
