Relaxation practise/calming exercises for excitable children

DD is 2 in April and an excitable child (I hope it's not the Irish inheritance as her granddad is a nutcase).
I was thinking about doing some calming exercises with her to appease her a bit (she is also a nervous sleeper, we co-sleep).
For yoga type exercises it might be to early, I was wondering if anyone has got any ideas or experience as to how a wired-up child can be led to be a bit calmer.
TIA.

Would like to try something like this too. Tried a Yogibabies DVD and he (20 month) lost interest in 10 secs. Have just tried doing some yoga with relaxing music and he does actually calm down, Also tried meditating (staring at a candle, thinking 'what shall I ccook for dinner?')and he really started to calm down and actually sat there next to me and zoned out at candle. Must try it again!
