My ds2 will soon be 4 and I would like to upgrade his Thomas the Tank Engine scooter which he has grown out of. He is quite tall for his age so anything for 4 or 5 years old should be fine. Thanks

They have fab ones in Argos with red lights all along the footplate.

Have you actually got this one? If so I presume you think it is good!

Yes - DS got it last spring and he uses it practically every day. He's 6, BTW

I'm interested to know if anyone has bought the new Micro Lite one and what they think of it.

You really don't need to spend 40 quid on a scooter - this is ds'a. I paid extra for the flashing lights - but they have a perfectly good one for under a tenner.

Must be us, we've had a terrible time with the cheap scooters. DS1 (8) had a JD Bug which was great for 3 years, but got nicked. I bought him another (20 quid) but it won't fold any more and bits have come off it... DS2 has a Nebulous (the one they sell for about 10 pds in Argos), that has so many bits fall off it it's a safety hazard -- only good for metal recycling at the tip, now. All within space of 3-4 months.

I would go for a 40-50 quid proper Micro-Lite or similar one if you can keep an eye on it, would be high on radar for thieves. Also, my 3yo has been riding a toddler-size 3 wheel scooter that DH modified to be 2 wheel. It's much tougher and more robust than any folding micro-scooter could ever be.

the mini micro-scooters you can get in Great Little Trading Co or John lewis are the best ime - dd2 loves hers. They are £30 or £40 but well worth it
