Passport renewal for DD - advice needed

I booked flights to travel abroad for Christmas to be reunited with family, after 2 missed Christmases (Covid). I then realised that my 14 year old DD's passport won't have 6 months validity left by then, which after Brexit is a requirement. I am now looking at renewing it to realise that the advice is to allow 10 weeks!!!! What happened to the 2-3 weeks it always took? I am now panicking as we don't have 10 weeks. Has anyone renewed their passport recently? Is it really 10 weeks? Would you advise that I apply asap hoping for the best or should I try and get a fast track appointment instead? Not even sure if that is even allowed as the passport has not expired yet. Any advice?

I ordered my DD1 and DS's passport renewals online on 1 October and sent the old passport by registered post the same day, and received both new passports today. Really pleasantly surprised - received lots of text updates to let me know the status.

We did all of ours at peak season were told 10-12 weeks and took 4. We made sure to post back old ones as soon as we applied.

I’ve just done 3 very recently . One took 10 days. The other 2 have taken around 3 weeks. Just get it done asap and hopefully you will be ok!

Thank you for the reassuring answers. I applied online and sent the passport off. Wish me luck!

@Thatisme have they arrived?

Yes and it took approximately 10 days. Very happy! :)
