Nextdoor - really cliquey ?

Is it me or is the Nextdoor forum/app just really creepy and cliquey. Like, I just posted my thoughts about a new supermarket that was being proposed in the area, and was called an idiot. And then when I called that person out for calling me an idiot, a couple of other users rushed to her defense. I reported the comment but it seems, the moderator is one of the poeple who was defending the bully....Just very bizarre, playground type behaviour...

Yes, it’s a lot like a playground. Quite entertaining, unless you’re on the receiving end.

Trinity65 · 28/08/2022 23:02

Oh Yes .
Not only cliquey but increasingly aggressive .

I just never realised how deeply some hate cats, dogs and/or Foxes in the area, for one thing
🐱🐶🐺

LOL
I told them, quite sarcastically, that I would refrain from posting my opinions in a public forum in future, and would stick to posting about missing cats.
Which was met with "back off!" and "I think you've said enough thankyou very much!"
So that's told me 😜

It's a horrible forum with a catchment of nimbys and moaners and fear mongers. You won't find anyone nice or genuinely friendly on there.

PyjamaDuddlejuck · 30/08/2022 02:06

I wasn't impressed with the people who run the site either on the one occasion I had cause to interact with them. I wouldn't bother with it.

yogz1976 · 30/08/2022 08:24

Yeah, I have closed my account and unsubscribed. I want nothing more to do with that toxic app.

I was on it for about 20 mins before unsubscribing and deleting.

Which is a shame as it didn't start out like that . Now it's just an extension of FB.

Sometimes local events are advertised, which is useful but I agree ppl can get quite carried away with their thoughts and comments. So many heated arguments. It is useful to sell or give away stuff. That’s the only time I post.

Ha! There was a post on mine recently where someone was posting about how we're under a hosepipe ban and got all shouty about hs2 who are (apparently) using lots of water every day and how dare they, how they're stealing water from us, tory cronies etc etc.

First, and many subsequent, posts pointed out - quite rightly - that a) we're not in a hosepipe ban and b) they've stopped drilling near us anyway so no longer using the water 🙄

Ha, ha, ha, I'm guessing that those posting on the 'UK is wonderful' thread won't be joining in here. The dark underbelly of UK community.... I do agree OP, my DH stayed on it to keep an eye out for freebies and information but I'd had enough after one day.

OldTinHat · 30/08/2022 09:51

I've wanted to join NextDoor for ages but it's not in my area - until I discovered yesterday that it is. All of my local area apart from my side of the street! 😆
