Does anyone know about glassware? I haven't got a clue.

My mum has passed onto me two boxes of Astra Continental Glassware champagne saucers. They were given to my parents as a wdding present in 1962, so I suppose they're retro. I have no idea about the value (if indeed there is any). I've tried Googling and all that comes up is a Finnish chap who apparently designed them....I think! Any information would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Nah - I've just been on Google again and found the name Margrit Thacker; it says she designed the sunburst range though.
I couldn't be that lucky to possess something that was worth something.

Astra is designed by Martti Rytkönen

it is a current range but don't know if they still produce the ones you have

Are they in the original boxes? If so they may be worth something. Not a lot I wouldn't think though

CountessDracula · 22/01/2008 11:31

Oh hang on
He was born in 1960 so I guess not him!

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/01/2008 12:43

ok, have emailed my friend's friend !

WendyWeber · 22/01/2008 12:49

Margrit Thacker looks like a typo for That Woman

What on earth is a champagne saucer? What you put it in for the cat?

CountessDracula · 22/01/2008 12:51

A champagne glass a la babycham
You know a wide one

WendyWeber · 22/01/2008 12:58

Ohhhhh, thanks CD.

(With a cherry in?)

saythatagain · 22/01/2008 13:39

They are in their original boxes CD, with one missing in one - my mum reckons that happended around 1964!
