What do you mean by “pay off”. All phones that are on contract are paid off over time.

Lyn29 · 14/08/2022 18:50

I mean pay off the phone , not the contract.

You go to whatever provider and just buy one outright.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 14/08/2022 18:52

If you take out a contract with tesco mobile it is made clear how much is usage & how much is paying off the phone. As soon as phone is paid for the monthly payment reduces to usage only.
It is also possible to pay off the phone early with no penalties.

Do you mean a phone you can pay for in instalments? You pay for apples products in instalments.

NiqueNique · 14/08/2022 18:56

Do you mean pay in one go? So just for the handset itself? If so, as I said above, I went to O2 (which provided my tariff etc) and I bought the phone outright. Or you could buy one from amazon, Argos or any number of other shops.

If you mean paying in instalments, but not as part of a contract with your provider, I’m not sure where you’d go tbh.

You can buy iPhones through apple or John Lewis and then just put a SIM card in (I use a giff gaff £10 a month one).

Aposterhasnoname · 14/08/2022 20:42

Do you mean buy a phone on credit, then get the sim separately?

vegang · 14/08/2022 20:45

I'm confused, do you mean buy the phone outright or pay monthly for the phone with no SIM contract attached

suzyscat · 14/08/2022 21:04

You can pay in instalments at the apple store.

You can also pay in instalments at o2 you have a device plan and a phone tariff bundled in the same bill. Once you've paid off the device you only pay the phone tariff.

(You can choose to pay more whenever you like off to get the device debt cleared sooner.)

I got a mobile without a tariff/sim card from Sky Mobile

SpiderinaWingMirror · 14/08/2022 21:08

Giff gaff have a seperate plan for the phone.
We are replacing our phones with with reconditioned ones at music magpie. It works really well.

I bought DD her smart phone outright from Nokia, It was £160 and then just put a £4 a month ID mobile sim in it. The Nokia is robust and lives up to its reputation but it is also good value for money whilst the features arent quite as good as an iPhone they are perfectly useful and the camera is brilliant.

Apple do monthly payment plans and do so Sky mobile.

Both you can get a phone with no sim contract.

LIZS · 14/08/2022 22:55

O2, set up a contract then pay for handset and sim only plan. Buy unlocked handset only from likes of Argos, John Lewis and sim only/payg from mobile provider.
