A friend's DH has told us that BT are going on strike today and Monday. Apparently Openreach engineers, BT engineers and administrative staff are all striking, but I haven't heard this at all in the news. Does anyone know?
I'm guessing that it means that faults won't be fixed and new services won't be connected but it's not just BT customers that could be affected as most of their competitors use the BT network too.
Thinking about it, the consequences of telecoms services not being fixed could be really serious for businesses, as so many things other than phones work over the BT network, like internet, card payment machines, IT, mobile calls.
I am really surprised I hadn't heard of it, but he insists that it's true. Could it be possible that BT are repressing news of the strike, or do the media think that it's not worth mentioning.
I'm off to work now, and just hoping it doesn't cause us any problems.
