Ideas for Nativity costumes!!

I have two sons - my five year old is going to be a star in his nativity and my six year old is an angel (!!!).
Any ideas for the star costume and also how can I make my son an angel without making him look too girly ? I'm not good with a needle and cotton either!!

Any ideas would be much appreciated!!!!

My dd was star in a nativity when 5 too. She wore an adult dark blue T-shirt, so it went to below knees. The we wrapped gold tinsel across her chest in an X shape. She made a hat which was a band around her head with a big gold star on the front. I say we, the school did it all, just asked me to provide T-shirt and tinsle.

Angels wore white T-shirt with tinsel around head.

For the star maybe you could just make a big cardboard star, cover with tinfoil and silver glitter an attach it to his front with a tie round the back maybe? You could then make kind of deeny boppers with a cheapo head band with lots more little stars attached to it. No ideas for male angels tho - last time I wrote a secondary school assembly I had boy angels wearing black leather jackets and fairy wings!!!

At last year's nursery do, all the stars wore all white or yellow but had headbands with a star attached.

Not sure about a boy angel, I would have thought if you have a plainish loose white top/robe and biggish wings, and dont overdo the tinsel and headresses he will probably look ok.

you could make ds not look too gorly by letting him wear white trousers and a white top instead of a robe. tinsel round head or headband with long bit at back with a circle so the Halo can be raised. angel wings can be worn too.

for star, i like candy's suggestion. you could also transfer a star picture onto tshirt or draw on it with fabric paint.

Go on the internet and buy them....thats what Ive done as Im so cray with a needle.
