Thought you might like to know (as I remember you grew up on this, as did I!) but Pastimes have got videos of Mary, Mungo and Midge!!! I can hear Richard Bakers dulcit tones already!! They're in a set with Hectors House, Rhoobarb and Custard and Figerbobs, but about 20 quid for the 4!!
Well thats what I did with my v.v. wet Sat afternoon anyway! Take it easy.....

Batey, me too. When we were kids we used to shout "mary, mungo and midge!!!" every time we went past a tower block. Hmmm, sheltered middle class kids that we were Rhubarb and Custard I remember well, and Crystaltips and Alistair. Hey, we have all of the last 4 on mumsnet except Alistair...

Batey, what did you think when you watched them again? I got MM&M for my birthday. A friend came round with his 2 year old and we all got ready to watch, and found is quite amusing and terribly middle class, but sadly not as we remembered it

Willow2 · 02/11/2002 22:46

I just saw a Milly Molly Mandy compendium in another catalogue...

Allatsea, didn't have enough cash on me to get it yesterday. But was given The Clangers a while ago which I still think is lovely but it does make me nod off (it dosn't take much!), but dds watch it for 5 mins max and then start bleating about the Tweenies! Was also given Chorlton and the Wheelies, which dds just think is strange.......

Allatsea, I know what you mean - I'd bought MM&M excitedly about 6 months ago and it wasn't the same!

I do have a daily burst of nostalgia though - my Mum found a video of Rainbow in a secondhand shop - good old Zippy, Bungle and George singing nursery rhymes with Geoffrey and the Gang - ds loves it!

SoupDragon · 03/11/2002 09:52

DS1 loves the Clangers! He asks to watch them on video occasionally. I think he does it to humour me, bless him.

My two love The Clangers, and also Bod which is completely surreal. Last time I got my hair done, the hairdresser told me gently that it was time to "lose the Crystal Tips" effect; I couldn't imagine why! I'm off to Past Times as soon as poss tho as Rhubarb And Custard was my fave; just LOVE the theme tune!

Willow2, Oh how I used to love those milly molly mandy books! I'm not sure I could revisit them as it may spoil the lovely memory of those lovely books

yoko · 03/11/2002 21:31

sis-i adored Milly Molly Mandy as a child and now my thuggish 4year old son does too!!And the stories are still really lovely.

kkgirl · 03/11/2002 22:05

The milly molly mandy books are on Book People this month 2 books for £4.99. I'm going to order them for my daughter

sis · 05/11/2002 14:22

Message for Tigermoth - The Book People are also doing the whole pocket sized Thomas and Friends set of books with the detailed pictures for £29.99 (RRP £130) if you are still looking for them.

I've ordered the Milly Molly Mandy books - quite excited now!

tigermoth · 05/11/2002 17:07

thanks for remembering sis! strangely enough I was given a copy of the book people catalogue today and saw the Thomas offer. Was thinking of posting a message about it but you beat me to it.

sis · 06/11/2002 09:47

If we didn't already have so many Thomas books, I'd have been sorely tempted as it does seem to be a brilliant offer!
