Hello,

Has anyone had assistance with Social Housing issues from a Local MP, if so what was the outcome and did you find it helpful?

I’ve just approached my Local MP for assistance with my Social Housing issues and was just wondering if anyone can shed light on the process or even just how successful you were with your case.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

What are the issues? Is it a complaint you can take to the housing ombudsman?

@Cavviesarethebest So it’s issues around unsanitary living conditions, so ultimately the poor quality of the property, overcrowding and urgent need for rehousing under medical grounds.

Make an official complaint to the landlord and make sure they know you’re vulnerable. Register the complaint with the housing ombudsman - they won’t be able to look at it until 8 weeks (I think) has passed but then the landlord will know you are willing to go to the ombudsman. Make sure your mom knows you’ll take ot to the ombudsman.

ombudsmam more likely to help than mp but if your mp is good then that might help get things moving.

if you have any good relevant disabilities charities they might also be able to help advocate for you

basically be a squeaky wheel and be very politely entitled and willing to exercise your rights!

Oh also look at your landlords policies - eg they should have a policy for dealing with disabled/vulnerable residents and refer to it if they’re not following their obligations
