tooth query in 7 mo dd

my dd has her 3rd tooth coming through, this will make 2 bottom teeth + the latest top. Yesterday she figured out that she could grind the top + bottom teeth together, it makes the most ghastly sound + is quite loud too.

I don't see how i could discourage it, so my question is, will this do any serious damage to her teeth?

No, it won't.

My dentist told me that they do it for two reasons: 1, because it's a new sensation, and 2, because they actually need to grind the teeth slightly so that they fit together properly when they bite.

Don't worry; it's annoying but it's perfectly OK.
