Dh and I have an idea to move to (the South of?) France. Ihis is because his work allows him to work from anywhere in Europe, property is cheaper, he speaks excellent french and we understand that there are french state schools that are excellent. So my questions are these: How do we find out where these 'excellent' state schools are? Is there an independent guide? What is it called? I worry for myself if we made this move. I feel so un-french. I'm scruffy, disorganised and my kids are the type that are forever wearing odd-socks. I speak virtually no french (though obviously would learn) Would the french take me to their hearts?! My children, I feel, would be fine since they are all under 4. What of the different regions of France? As an arty, scruffy type any places that I should avoid?! Where is the scenery really beautiful and the weather mild? But most important how do i find out about good schools?

Don't go - how can you live happily in a country where their idea of a good cup of tea is a cereal bowl of Earl Grey?!!!

Poo2, I know, I know. This is always my frustration on holiday.I am someone who cannot live without my cup of hot, strong builders' tea in the morning. I'll ship it in.
