parcelforce parcel collected by someone else from the post office

Am hoping someone may come along who can give me some advice.

I received an email saying that a parcel had been delivered. It had not.

I checked the tracking and apparently it was taken to a post office on Thursday and collected today. I didn't get a "i missed you" card.

essentially the post office seem to have let someone collect my parcel without showing id. and some random person has my clothes!

the seller - a small seller in NZ - says as far as she can see it has been delivered - not sure what more she can do.

help! any advice would be welcome

just to confirm - we live in a rural place with no neighbours close by. so it's not one of them (i checked just to be sure) so no idea where to get my parcel from.

You have to get the seller to complain, you are not at fault, the Post Office is.

Can you ask the Post Office if they have CCTV and report it as theft to the police on the non emergency number?

Wrong address? If the card was left at another address then that person collected? I thought it could be collected by anyone at that address, and the cards are often scrawled on so the name may not have been readable.

thanks for the replies.

the seller doesn't seem keen to complain - her view is that the parcel says delivered, what more can they do.

will ask the post office on monday morning re cctv - not sure if they will be keen to share as it will show them not checking id which is what they should have done...

selller confirms send to correct address - may have been wrong on card i guess - but the label would have been right

I reckon the card was posted through the wrong door and whoever received it has used it to collect the parcel. I've never been asked for ID if I've had the card.

violetsanddaisies · 18/06/2022 16:02

What did they say at the Post Office?

It seems strange because how would anyone else know to collect it? If the card had gone to someone else by mistake then I would think the person would quickly realise it wasn't for them when they saw the parcel, and most people are honest.

If you have a local Facebook group, post there. Misdelivered parcels are often reunited in my local group.

Svara · 18/06/2022 16:04

I get asked for ID but they only look closely to check the address if they can't read the card, otherwise it's a glance.

msssm · 18/06/2022 16:05

I live rurally. I get the 'delivered' notification even when it's just been delivered to the post office. Hopefully if you go check it will be there.

RagamuffinCat · 18/06/2022 16:06

If they have CCTV and you live rurally, it shouldn't be too difficult for police request the footage to work out who the person who stole it is.

hi

it was delivered to a post office and collected from there.

post offices should check id to check the name and address against the parcel. often when i have had the slip they just give it to me.

i reckon parcelforce misdelivered the "you are out slip" to the wrong address. wondering what this was - the person went to the post office and got the parcel - they may not have even realised it was not for them until they got it....

absolute nightmare

Try not to panic op. Mine said this recently and they just meant it had been delivered to the post office but it sounded like they meant it had been picked up. What did the email actually say? Mine was confirmed as delivered and it didn’t mean that it just meant delivered there ready, they didn’t say ready for collection and I thought someone must have collected it!!
