Help - Garden wedding what do men wear?

Hi, me and Dh are off to a wedding abroad and the dress code states Garden Wedding. What do men wear, would a fitted patterned shirtand chino shorts/trousers be okay or would he need a casual suit? Just to add it is a younger family members wedding thanks

A linen suit?

It's basically semi formal, so things like patterned shirt, chinos, linen suit are fine.

Not shorts - chinos or linen trousers. Short sleeved shirt is ok. If its hot then a jacket will just be a nuisance.

Patterned shirt and chinos sounds fine, but I’d take a light jacket, maybe linen, then he can put it on if everyone else is jacketed up.
