Hi,

I had my coil fitted back in November 2021.

I haven't been feeling myself lately at all! My mood is all over the place, I feel upset, stressed, angry and feel like I could explode at any time!

I'm worrying about everything and anything which makes me feel like I'm going crazy sometimes!

This isn't me at all, I'm usually the happy easy going type of person.

It's dawned on my that I've only felt like this since dec/jan which I suppose the coil would've settled in my body by then?

Has anyone else had these symptoms after having the coil fitted? Could it be the coil making me feel this way?

Is it worth getting it removed now or shall I give it more time?

Thanks 😊

Hi there
I got the non hormonal copper coil inserted and i was going through the same things you are,it takes about 6-8 months to settle.I noticed i was very angry, and emotional at the same time,i had very heavy bleeding for the forst 5 days as if i had just given birth and the periods seemed to last 10 days.I noticed breakouts on my face which id never really gotten before,i found i was very tired as well. I also felt bouts of depression at times, they only lasted an evening or so but it was enough to feel quite lonely and sad during this time.

I noticed it all came along with my coil.

I know they say that acne isnt a side effect of the non hormonal coil but it definately has to be.I only ever got a pimple once in 5-6 months but never continually.

i still feel quite down at times and even stressed, even though it was inserted back in 2018,but that could just be down to all the commitments i have with studying, working and children.

From my own experience the anger will calm down, bleeding amount will ease and everything falls into place after about 8 months,so hang in there,it was a task and a half to get mine in,i passed out from the insertion.

you might get lighter periods than me but i have to say and from other mums too, that the periods are on time and regular which is great.

I still get annoying breakouts but use a salycylic acid face wash and toner to keep them at bay.Ordinary skincare is great but i dont like that i have to do this just because i want to use this method of contraception.Other methods have been known to cause weigh gain, acne and very very light bleeding.Im thinking of trying the mirena coil in hope that the breakouts might stop. But overall its not a bad method of contraception.

To summarise, what your going through is normal, and in time itll get easier. : )
