When asking for a reference, the form asks for the position of the refferee and their relationship to me.

What do i put ?

The refferee is the assistant manager, but I have put that in 'position'.

Also I need a 2nd ref and have to choose between a family friend who has known me for over 20yrs but could only give a character ref, or an employer from about 12 years ago who won't now even be working at the place I worked at/.

is he/she your immediate manager? or line manager or some such other stupid office-speak

put that

nailpolish · 10/01/2008 14:30

who would you rather gave you a ref? you could always put both - add in whether character or ref from employment 12 yrs ago

nutcracker · 10/01/2008 14:32

Erm she was the one who interviewed me and started me in the job and the one i'd have gone to after the evening supervisor.

I am not sure which to put for other ref, as if I put character one, it looks like I have only ever had one job, but if i put the hotel one, they won't actually be able to get a ref from her i don't think.

i put immediate manager in the 'relationship to you' bit

its ahrd inst it
i am applying for jobs just now to and want to give a ref to agreat job i had but i dont know anyone who works there now!

its so difficult

i think id put the character ref

bu you must also mention to hotel job - is there a bit where get to write about experience or whatever?

nutcracker · 10/01/2008 14:37

Thanks

It is very hard, you are right. I have to resist the urge to put 'PLEASE GIVE ME A CHANCE' on the bottom of the form LOL.

I will use the character ref i think, but I have also included the hotel in the list of employment.

nutcracker · 10/01/2008 14:40
