digital radio -- crap?

i was given one recently. it was very expensive and certainly looks lovely. but as for the reception... it's rubbish. it does that electronic stutter the whole time and so i shall shortly be rescuing the old Roberts from the back of my cupboard.
i've talked to one other person who has had similar problems. don't know how the signal is conveyed but we're in central london, so it can't be to do with poor reception really can it? what is the problem? fine tuning has no effect as far as i can tell.
(the only thing i'll miss when i put the digital radio away Passion radio, which is seems to have been formulated entirely with my likes and, i'd guess, those of other MNers in mind, being a mix of classic 80s stuff you've totally forgotten about, Neil Young, world music and little snippets about the environment. but perhaps i do you all a disservice)

what make is it?

Is digital radio from the same source as digital TV. Just wondering as digital TV here has been really bad recption on and off - because of the weather. Could this be the problem maybe?

Glad you mentioned this bp, cos I was mulling over whether to buy one or not. I wanted one of the miniature ones to listen to with headphones. Think I'll give it a miss as they're not cheap.

well, it is a Roberts too. a spaceage roberts. i'd be better off with two yoghurt pots and a piece of string though frankly
the other person didn't have a roberts though
