Do you think there is any chance of this working?

Ive had the idea of getting married over the christmas period.

Ceremony would just be us and very close friends and family then throwing a huge suprise party where nobody knew and then making it a big suprise when I come in in my dress?

What do you think?

LOL - the very first one on this thread

PeckaRollover · 29/11/2004 13:41

The suprise element would be hard though - people not coming thinking it was a party

Plus my sister lives in Paris

Plus my Dad will be in Rome over christmas

well dont you have to give 3 weeks notice of intention to marry or something like that - so you could get married just ebfore xmas. It would be beautiful - do you want ot get married in a church or other place?

why not plan for mid jan when everyone is feeling deflatted post christmas and in need of a good party 3K is loads to do a wedding on. You could let the chosen few in on the secret like your sister and then they can help with the planning. I think its a lovely idea, nice quite intermmit wedding just you DP and your children then a nice party afterwards.

Is there another event in jan which you could use as a ruse to get people there? therefore they think they're are going to a suprise party for X but in fact its your wedding party?

jampot · 29/11/2004 13:45

also you could word invitations cryptically so people would come

"Becka & Rollover request the pleasure of your company at their engagement party" etc etc

codswallop · 29/11/2004 13:47

whats wrong with my plan?

katzguk · 29/11/2004 13:48

like that idea jampot or or or (sorry getting excited now)

why not do as jampot says and have an afternoon engagment party then sneak out half way through get married and come back and say change of plan this is now a wedding party!!

PeckaRollover · 29/11/2004 13:49

The sitdown meal for 40 coddy would probably cost nearly as much as a party for everyone!

I think Im liking that idea actually about just the late wedding then a party.

Do I still invite the family from a far end of a fart that I would have done had I had the huge affair

no you dont BR

A celebration of your love should be with the people you share your lives with - not just your name/relatives...

PeckaRollover · 29/11/2004 13:50

Ive emailed this hotel for prices

OP posts:
jampot · 29/11/2004 13:53

lovely BR - but looks like it would cost a fortune.

Hotels charge the earth IME esp round xmas

PeckaRollover · 29/11/2004 13:55

Where else could I have it though?

OP posts:
PeckaRollover · 29/11/2004 14:03

Have just emailed about 7 places asking if it would be feasible to just have a late ceremony leading onto a party.

Fingers crossed everyone!
