Hi all just looking for some advice in giving a wedding gift. It's been quite a few years since been to a wedding and got a few this year and feel a bit out of touch with what is acceptable amount of money to give for a wedding gift for both evening reception only and full day wedding ? I know some people say for a full wedding give enough to cover the cost of host inviting you for the meal but the 2 all day weddings have quite a difference in venue. One is in a very expensive venue and the other is not but would want to give the same amount to both couples ?

I would give a sum that related to how close I was to the marrying couple, and was affordable.

So £150 to close family or best friends, £100 to good friends and more distant family and £50 to other friends.

What the couple chose to spend on their wedding wouldn't enter into consideration for a wedding here

Would that be for the full day wedding ? What about an evening only invite ?

Wow PP is very generous!

Evening only - £40-£50

Work colleague - £50 to £60

All day friend £75 - £100 depending on relationship

Family (close) - £100 plus
