Can anyone advise me on what car would be a good first car for a 50 something Mum of two teens.
Budget under £13K.

Depends on your requirements, future running costs etc.

I have driven a Ford Focus for years. Boot is roomy enough, its reliable, parts are cheap, has 5 doors so no scrabbling around to get into the back seat. Did I mention its very reliable? Grin Very cheap insurance and tax, and mpg is good.

My daughter has just passed her test and wanted a Fiesta as that is the car she learnt it. Couldn't afford one but turns out the Mazda is a Fiesta under another badge and less "fashionable " and therefore £thousands cheaper including only £30 tax, ulez compliant etc

Pressed to soon....her mazda fits four adults very comfortably. We are a tall family and a couple of us are ahem....bigger than average. We would be happy to go on a day trip in it. Boot is smaller but fine for a weekly shop, not fine for a pushchair.

Thanks.
A Mazda m2(?) I think it is, keeps coming up on my search. I'll take a closer look.

I do love a Focus. It's the car I learnt in but I've not had much luck when searching my area.

I would buy nearly new, personally. Dealers often have them. Look at the Seat Leon and the Skoda Scala. I'd probably go for the Seat Leon as it has loads of leg room for teenagers.

Fiat Panda, reliable, good handling, no-stress, no annoying gimmicks.
