How long will a passport take to get if I post form tomorrow

Just noticed DS1 passport has expired and we need photo ID to fly on 26th Dec.

Airline will only accept photo ID for children so as he doesn't have a driving licence passport it is!

Will I get it back by 26th Dec??

You'd be better off going to the post office tomorrow (though it needs to be a "main" one). They'll check it and I think it is usually back in 2-3 weeks.

I sent off ds3's a few weeks ago (normal processing) and it was returned in nine days. Pretty good going, I thought.

yes it is 2-3 weeks

It must be a quiet time now.

I think the PO applications "guarantee" 2 weeks - DD2 sent hers off in August and it took exactly 2 weeks. Should be fine in Nov!

I did British passports earlier in the year and they took about a week to get back. I just used regular post - no special post office or travel agent checking service.

I did the online form filling where you type in your details on the UKPA website and they send you the form by post already filled in. When I did it, I filled in the online forms late morning and they were on our doormat less than 24 hours later.

Phew thanks...wouldn't wnat to be on front pages of Sun for leaving DS at home!

Bit irritating that I need a passport for DS who is 5 for a domestic flight. Phoned the airline and they said everyone needs photo ID.

It's security, Eve - your DS might be a terrorist masquerading as a 5-yr-old you know!

i had to renew my three kids passports and we did the check and send at the PO and they were back within a week, also if your kids havent changed much then you can just send new photos and the forms do not have to be signed by a doctor ect.
