Hi ladies

my daughter is 4 weeks old. We registered her last week but we’ve come away and regret the middle name!

ive spoken to register office who said because she’s less than 12 months, we can amend the birth certificate. It seems very straightforward

she said it’s called a space 17 amendment

has anyone ever done this?

thanks x

Hello, just commenting to watch this. I’ve seen another chat on here that suggested it’s really easy and caused no problems x

Yes, we did this. All very easy. DD in her 20s now and can't believe she originally had a different first name.

I didn't but I know it's very easy. We found it really difficult to settle on a name and I only agreed to go and register once I had established that we could change our minds - but in the end the name we chose waa good. But yeah do go ahead. It's fine.

Yes we found it really difficult to agree on a name so thought we best just get it registered. Even though it was my name choice in the end I’ve gone off it due to all the discussions on it and really not felt amazing since giving birth so not in a great headspace.

I kind of wish I’d not registered it now and had more time. I wanted to avoid a fine but the registrar said at best we’d have just got a strongly worded letter. Should have asked Confused before signing

Just going to see if I grow to love the name again now like I did in the first place x

Interested to know what you decided to do and what a space 17 amendment looks like?
