Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to put the contents of a 3 bedroom house into storage?

We have a Victorian terraced house with 3 bedrooms, kitchen, sitting room and dining room/playroom. Most of our furniture is free standing (i.e. no fitted cupboards in bedrooms). I have no idea how much space we would need. Has anyone put a similar amount into storage?

Thanks!

I got a removals chap to come and give me an appaisal of what space I'd need in the stoarge unuit when I moved out of my flat in Birmingham to move to Bath (to live in a pub - oh the joys!)

I rng the storage place and they recommened someone, he was excellent

We had or stuff in storage for three months.
Contents of a two-bedroomed house plus a huge attic (was pretty full).
It was two containers'-worth and cost about £32 pw (am in south Scotland).

Here's what I have in storage

1 large sofa with 2 large armchairs and stool
1 small sofa with rocking chair
large dining table
tall bookcase
two computer chairs
garden table and 4 folding chairs
6 chests of drawers
4 large pics/mirrors
large rug
1 pushbike
bar
4 slim Ikea cupboards
1 wall display cabinet
kitchen trolley
2.3m worktop
desk unit
2 tvs
about 50 assorted boxes and black bags

bear in mind I didn't store any beds, wardrobes, dining chairs or white goods.

This all fitted into a unit measuring 10ft x 10ft x 10 ft = like a single garage. No way could I have managed to fit it all in, I had the help of a friend who is experienced in packing units. You have to use the height of the unit wisely and pack things inside drawers and have lots of small boxes to stow inside little spaces as you go along.

there are 4 big companies with lots of branches, Big Yellow, Safestore, Shurguard and I can't remember the name of the other. I checked out all the websites, found out where near me they had branches and compared prices. The prices are fairly similar but I plumped for Safestore in the end as it beat the others by a small margin due to good special offers.

My unit cost something around three thousand pounds a year. You have to add insurance to this, insurance was about a hundred pounds a year if I remember rightly.

You can take these units for a week at a time, or for as long as you like, and you can go in and out whenever you like during their opening hours.

my sister is paying 150 quid a month down in the south. Seems a lot.

Ours was stored with the removals people - local company

We did it for 4 months, at about £50 per week (Herts, 2 years ago, so prices may be higher now).

That was for the contents of a large 2 bed Victorian terrace plus approx 3000 books (3 crates worth in total).
