Women went into the back of me on A road whilst I was stopped in traffic, had baby in the back.
I was a bit shaken up and took a picture of her car. I didn't take her details. Will I still be able to claim?

Are you and baby ok?
Did you get her reg? If so, you will. Just call your insurance.

ScrumptiousBears · 18/01/2022 16:17

As long as you have her license plate your insurance company will contact her insurance company

This! Call your insurance company

Thanks we're ok. It's my first accident so I've not had to do this before

Be warned. Your insurance premium may well go up, even if it wasn't your fault.

JC12345 · 18/01/2022 16:34

Hope you're both ok. Remember you'll need to replace your little one's car seat (even if it doesn't look damaged). That should be covered by insurance also.

Justgettingbye · 18/01/2022 16:38

That's what's put me off claiming because my premium may go up and I may lose my no claims but at the same time I don't want pay for another car seat really

You pay for insurance. Use it.

pumpkinpie01 · 18/01/2022 16:44

Have you got her registration number ?

Roselilly36 · 18/01/2022 16:46

I hope you are ok OP. Must have been quite a shock. Call insurance company. Usually the driver that has gone into the back of someone is liable, but the insurance companies willsort it out.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 18/01/2022 16:50

Even if you don't want to claim you do have to tell the insurance company.
There may be more damage than initially apparent too.

girlmom21 · 18/01/2022 16:50

You need to report the accident regardless. What's your excess like?

Lockdownbear · 18/01/2022 16:51

You have insurance claim it.
I've had a few bumps over the years but never had a significant increase in premium because of them.

Claim your insurance. And remember to mention the carseat. You might need it to go through as a personal damage claim but it can be claimed and double check you buggy or other items in the boot are OK.

Justgettingbye · 18/01/2022 16:56

Yes

Report to your insurance with licence plate details. They can check other's insurance and make contact. Rear shunts can cause more damage than you may realise. Hope you and baby are ok.
