Anyone used Friends Reunited?

I just wondered if any of you have used the FR website, and if you were successful? I'm asking because I've found quite a few friends from the past, and am now in pretty regular contact with them, especially one (you know who you are!!), who I spent many years regretting drifting apart from (stupid boyfriend rubbish), but it's now like we were never apart! And now I am old enough to realise that nothing is worth losing such a good friendship over. Also it's really interesting to discover how other people saw me at the time - totally the opposite to how I viewed myself.

Hi - yes, I'm on FR and it has been really useful (mainly for me being nosey about what people have been getting up to in their lifes).

I was one of the organisers at my years school reunion in May and this website was a god send. We had over 300 people attending (many of which I would not have a clue how to contact if they hadn't been on FR)

Have reunited with one good friend as a consequence and will probably keep in touch with her. It's a great website, thoroughly recommended.

Yes, I have used it (my Sister made me sign up one night when sge was here). I was convinced it was going to be a load of old rubbish, but I am now in touch with a friend from primary school I havent seen for 25 years and it is great.
But generally I like it cos I am nosey!

I think this whole reunited site is great. Like I said I am now in touch with a few old school friends, but it's also enabled me to find soeone else from my post school past, via a school friend who I had no idea knew each other( which is really odd because I was only talking about him the other day wondering what he was up to, when I was sent his email address without even asking!). Oh the wonders of modern technology!

Me too. Have met up with two old friends via the site, and have contacted/been contacted by several others. It's great. The creators must be rolling in it by now.

Yes, and have got back in contact with quite a few old friends - it's been a LOL! It's great for people who've moved abroad (as 3 people who've contacted me had) and great for being nosey (particularly those people you hated!!). What I do find frustrating and definately NOT in the spirit of nosiness, is those people who leave no details about themselves!! For goodness sake, how are we going to be nosey?

I've found with friendsreunited that it's great for finding out what people have been doing (mainly used it to find out about old boyfriends myself) but that for me, once I've found that out it's unlikely to go much further. I did meet one old school friend who it turns out now lives 5 minutes away from me but it was short and sweet. I'm still in touch with some friends from school and they were the only ones I was ever going to stay in touch with really. First ever serious boyfriend did contact me though and we talked for 2 hours and that was nice. Needed to have some of that conversation So they just asked me to renew my subscription and I can't be bothered.

I am going to a Fr reunion next Saturday. We all started High School in 1972. I am only in contact with one friend from school and we are going along together- just couldn't face walking in alone! From the site, a few folk are now grandparents and here's me with a 10 month old! The next dilemma is what to wear- I've already booked the hairdressers and the babysitter -dh- no partners allowed! I'm afraid i'm one of the no detail people- just like to check out everyone else!

dp and his brother's father left when they were little and although they havent had any contact with him...(by the sounds of it is a good thing)they did used to visit their grandparents and auntie in norfolk until they moved and lost contact.anyway about this time last year their auntie tracked them down through fr and we've had a great year since ,in fact we're off for a visit next weekend and as a surprise in march for their grandparents golden wedding we went down for the party....they were so shocked to see us there esp my dd whose theyre only greatgrandchild.they now completely smitten with her and ring on a weekly basis.
it just goes to show how useful the fr site really is.

I had to come on and tell you this story about FR, as I just heard it today myself - I knew what had happened, but not why.
My Uncle had a girlfriend at school. When they were 21 they got engaged, they had been together since they were 15. But when they were 23 they split up, I'm not sure why. On the back of this split my Uncle went to Australia to travel, met a girl, fell in love, came home with her, got married, moved back to Oz and had 2 sons.
It was never a very happy marriage, they haven't holidayed together for 10 years, on all his trips back to the UK, even when he brought the boys, she never came, even when his Dad was dying. In fact, that time my Uncle and cousins came to Scotland to see Grandpa and his wife went on a big holiday to the US. Anyway, last year his ex-fiancee contacted him, I now know through friends reunited. They had both turned 50 and she was divorced.
The upshot of this is he moved back to the UK 6 months ago, is in the middle of a divorce, is living with his ex-fiancee and they are getting married next year when he is divorced. Imagine! His boys are both away from home now and one of them is coming to the UK to study next year.
It is sad that his marriage failed after 24 years, but terribly romantic that they have got back together after all these years!
