Did you really NEED it?

Anyone manage without?

my gap was 22mths
double buggy invaluable
no strain on your back, you could cordinate naps with a good walk
safe.
buy a light weight one, and not a trend setting fortune one.

Pannacotta · 17/12/2007 22:12

wow some fab toddler things on your link MrsJC, never seen any of those. Are you in the US?

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 17/12/2007 22:20

no am in NZ
that was an Australian site though

gigglewitchyouamerrychristmas · 17/12/2007 22:23

we had almost three year gap between DS1 & DS2, had tandem buggy
2 year gap between DS2 & DD, have side-by side buggy, still usuing it they have just had birthdays 2&4....
both have asthma and DS2 gets tired easily. that's my excuse anyway

i agree justintime - i will use one this time 2 years 4 months!

so much snobbery but hey - if you walk a lot whyever not?

gigglewitchyouamerrychristmas · 17/12/2007 22:27

p.s. unless you are planning on getting your arms extended and joining Mr Tickle's family, consider carefully if thinking of a buggy board. they should come with handle extensions and shin-guards for mum... but don't

hatwoman · 17/12/2007 22:31

i was very stubborn and determined not to get one- after 2 years of a dd I had severe product and general baby industry fatigue. first few weeks were fine - dd1 in the buggy, dd2 in a baby bjorn, the later stages were also fine - dd1 on the buggy board but I did have several weeks - maybe between 3-6 months - that were a right royal pita. i felt all valiant and determined - tomorrow will be better and all that. but, tbh, I was being pig-headed. I did look for a second hand one but not very hard. if I had my time again I'd be more determined to find a second hand one. If I'd known about mn I might have had some luck...

There's snobbery that you should get a double? Or snobbery that you shouldn't?

Why?

Am intrigued.

PAULAYATESBIGGESTFAN

are you pregnant???????

eidsvold · 18/12/2007 02:01

both times I used a pram that had a toddler seat attachment. That way when older child wanted to walk - could and if only needed the pram - did not need to take large buggy out.

Easier than a double buggy.

like this

Astrophe · 18/12/2007 13:13

eids and mrs jc, we had assumed we would get a three wheeler with toddler seat, and then arrived in UK (from Australia) and were shocked to find you can't get them here! Except for the Bertini, which is a 4 wheeler, which is what we bought eventually. I do remember reading a Choice magazine report saying that the 3 wheelers with toddler seats were dangerous because they are top heavy and likely to tip - did either of you find them tippy? (we might get one for future DC when we go back to Aus).

Whomovedmychocolate - its fine, I hijacked the thread with my 'for sale' anyway! I was hoping to get £180 ish for the lot (buggy worth £200 new, toddler seat £50 new, board shipped from Australia was £70, rain cover), but am definately open to offers as I need to be rid of it and we can't take it back to Aust with us when we move next year.

coby · 18/12/2007 16:09

We looked at one of these Marco Sky with toddler seat when DD2 was due but didn't think too much of it as neither child seemed to have much room and even though it was four wheeler it was rather unbalanced esp up and down kerbs etc -really good, well made pushchair too but a bit on the heavy side. You can usually find the odd one on ebay if you look often enough.

I'm glad I got my phoenix tandem instead.

gigglewitch pmsl about mr tickle arms - it is soooooo true though. Thought I'd picked up a bargain almost brand new litaf toddler step thingy for £5 at a car boot sale until I realised I couldn't reach the handles of the pushchair with it attached

coby · 18/12/2007 16:13

actually, just looking at the link below, the one I looked at was much sturdier looking than this one, it had much bigger wheels - must have been an older model. I like my pushchairs to have sturdy looking wheels - esp when required to carry the weight of two - maybe I'm just being silly (no need to answer that one )

oh really? well there you go....thought I hadn't really seen them bwfore

didn't find it tippy at all TBH. but then the combined weight of my children is prob enough to keep anything anchored firmly to the ground. I can see that it might be easy for them to be unbalanced though, but mine was fine.

shoshaliteupthetree · 18/12/2007 18:42

coby, I have one the same as your link, dont find it heavy at all, and really sturdy, its the best double I have had (and Ive had a few )

HappyChristmasWalrusIsOver · 18/12/2007 18:45

My DSs are 20 month apart and we had a double buggy, and used it until DS1 was 2 snd a hgalf

twas v useful as I cpould keep the little bugger strapped in

coby · 18/12/2007 20:50

shoshaliteupthetree - yep, thats what I meant in my second post. The one I linked to is not like the one I tried out even though it is the same model - I think they have updated a fair bit. Didn't want to mislead hence the second post.

Anyone who says 'anything but a double buggy' obviously hasn't thought about the possibility of a child running off into the road having escaped from reins etc (best ignore me I'm in a grump )

pinetreedog · 18/12/2007 21:06

could have made do with a buggy board but a buggy board wasn't suited to our buggy, my mum saw a second hand diouble buggy and bought it for us, so that was that.

shoshaliteupthetree · 18/12/2007 21:18

yep Coby or if you have three one in a buggy and two on reins, and the two on reins go opposite ways

Go on say Bah Humbug you will feel better

coby · 18/12/2007 21:32

shoshaliteupthetree - yeah BAH HUMBUG ( feel slightly better, but probably more so because you agreed with me )

Going to have 3 LOs next year and still only one pair of eyes and two hands, dusting off the double buggy and thinking of handcuffing DD1 to the handle bars (can you imagine the looks and comments? It would be worth doing just for the public outcry )

CarGirl · 18/12/2007 21:35

coby you need to buy astrophe's double with built in pull out buggy board - it is fab!

coby · 18/12/2007 21:44

cargirl Neither of my DDs will use a buggy board - they are awkward monsters like their dad (their mum is a total saint you know )..anyway, I prefer my handcuff idea
