Will I get a fine for this?

Chose this year, of all years, to not get round to paying for my new car tax before the start of the month.

Am I the only one who didn't know that fines have been introduced for late payment?! Anyone know how much it's likely to be and when I will receive it?

doubt it to be honest - please let us know if you do though

this explains it.

thanks 80sMum. Shall be paying it straight away, the £40 is bad enough, but a relief - back of form says £1000 miniumum(!), and I was expecting at least £80.

jampot - will let you know!

In future I am going to be SOOOOOO organised!

Pineneedle, I doubt very much that you'll get fined. I got my car tax 3 weeks late in August this year and the post office lady didn't mention anything about the late date. I was scared going in though becuase everyone had warned me 'oooh you'll definately be fined now' but I wasn't.
Good luck - I'm sure you'll be okay.

pineneedle - did you not get a reminder? It normally comes through the post so not your fault if you didn't get one!!

had the reminder in plenty of time , but had to wait to sort out the MOT and Insurance renewal, went away for the weekend, went back to work, and the moment just seemed to pass...

The man in my Post Office took great pleasure in warning me, Dawnie1, clearly a man who enjoys his work!! Thanks, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
