CLOTHES - Flattering but not black

My neighbour commeted recently that she can tell who's clothes I've washed by the colour. Mine look like a mourning party from a distance! After i got over the shock of having my washing line subjected to such close scrutiny, I realised I own only one item that isn't black! I am a size 18 and 5'2", busty, I'm only mid 20s and but still don't want to look like mutton. Reddish brown hair - any suggestions?

Jazz it up with patterned tights, a wrap/shawl, coloured handbag, a patterned skirt. I like coloured skirts with black tops, cardigans , tights & shoes.

Thankyou they are handy hints - was going to go shopping tomorrow but have just been informed that MIL is visiting tomorrow and dp will be at work. I will be expected to drink tea and smile sweetly all day. grrrr I have to be nice to old ladies at work, when it,s my weekend off I want to complain about the house work and then swan off to the park without doing any .

colditzmum, New Look have a range that goes up to at least a 22 (that's the biggest I tried on, loads of 18s anyway)! Have a look.

I was going to suggest Evans too but have to say theirs are fairly gloomy colours on the whole. New Look are much brighter.

If you feel that a change is what YOU want then go for it but don't do it just because of her comments.
Must admit though there are some lovely autumnal colours out there just a little bit different from the black that everyone is comfortable with. How about the chocolate, or the rich plums. I went out yesterday(actually looking for black for 2 funerals next week) but could have spent a fortune on everything else.

I was like you and wore black all of the time till DH pointed this out. Since then I have tried to add colour to my wardrobe and have been surprised by the positive feedback from everyone!

Still wear black but with other colours now!

Plum, brown and green all are nice. I wear a lot of pink but might not 'go' with your hair???
