Get ink from a biro pen off a cream leather sofa?

A friend of mine has discovered that her kids have accidently got blue biro ink on the side of her Leather sofa and has no idea what to do to get rid of it. She thinks that it's come from the type of biro pen that when you write with it if you smudge it it smears everywhere.

anyone got any helpful hints, ideas, definite answers?

thanks

Hair spray!

Spray a little onto a cloth, dab the ink gently with it. The alcohol in the hairspray will fade the ink and eventually remove it. Test on a hidden area first as some hairsprays may be too harsh.

Apply a little bit of Vaseline afterwards to re-moisturise the leather.

I remember 'Kim and Aggie' getting marks off leather sofas with hair spray. Spray the hair spray on the sofa and wipe with a clothe.

However, I can't remeber what they were trying to remove so this might be a really bad thing for biro.

Oh, obviously not such a bad thing.

I've got a pale leather sofa too and with 3 kids we often have biro on it, despite a 'no pens in the living room' rule. I tried loads of things on it to remove the pen, none worked hugely well. I've found that the ink does fade and wear off within a matter of a week. Does on my suite anyway.
