last night i borrowed neighbours camcorder to watch some old tapes of my kids. glass of wine and four tapes later I was in heaven.
was watching a tape and rewound the tape to watch a part again but the screen was blank. it was was not showing how many minutes were left on the display. i tried another tape that I had just watched and the same thing happened - the camcorder was not reading any of the tapes.
I have felt sick all night, I swear I did nothing and just watched the tapes and was very careful the whole time. I cant think what happened. Can anyone help? This actually happened with my old camcorder too. The only possibility I can come up with is my living room is slightly damp and maybe my cassettes were damp and damaged my old camera and this one? But surely not that quick after a few tapes and the tapes did not feel damp to touch to me??? Please help I feel sick to the stomach. How can I go up there and tell them I broke their camecorder - i would obviously buy another but I just feel so useless and they will never trust me again and think i dropped it or something.

maybe the battery has gone?

Does anything happen at all when you putt the tapes in?

No - charged it fully last night.

just looked at trouble shooting on the internet and it looks like the "video heads" maybe be dirty as the it says the picture breaks up or does not appear. my tapes must of been dirty which caused it. it tells you to use a cleaning cassette which i will try and go but now, hopefully it is that! it also says the video wear suffers from wear after long term use and may need to be replaced - hope its not that! i cant believe i will have to buy someone a camcorder before xmas when we have no money already and of course they will want to video their kids on xmas day. i feel like crying!!!
