have a friend who i got to know about 11 years ago (we used to work together). used to go out regularly and have girlie weekends away and used to buy each other birthday presents.

over the last few years we have seen each other less and less. for the last two years i have had a belated birthday card from her, which doesn't bother me. the first year i was almost due with dd, she came round with belated card and a big basket full of goodies for me and dd (things that you need for new baby). it was lovely. she has always been a generous person.

she got married last year and we went to the wedding. this was the last time i saw her.

she bought a christmas present for dd last year, which i sent a thank you note. she sent me a belated birthday card this year and also a belated birthday card for dd (which she put some money in).

it is coming up to her birthday, should i buy her a present or just send a card. haven't had any verbal contact with her for over a year, we are just both busy with different things.

It sounds like she has been a good friend even though you are starting to see less of each other. I personally, would still buy her a card and maybe put a £10 or £15 Boots voucher in with it.
